This is the best item i've every bought. The whole familily uses it whenever we work outside or have been in the woods. I can even pull poison ivy right out of the ground and not have to worry about getting it. It's so simple, just take it in the shower after working and wash the ivy oils off your skin. My only complaint....it's hard to find in stores.
I bought this product for my poison oak. I washed with it and used another product after that. I wish I had known the directions how to use it. I now know to wash with it and the second time to leave it dry on. These directions should be on the packaging. It feels good to wash with it. Now I can use it to its advantage after using it for one week without these directions.
My husband is extremely allergic to poison ivy, oak and the like. He loves this soap. As soon as he gets home from the woods he goes ahead and showers with it and it gets rid of all the toxins promptly. He hates it when he runs out.
I had poison sumac, real tough to get rid of. Burt's poison ivy soap was extremely helpful in soothing the the discomfort I was feeling. I bought enough to have some on hand at all times. Good stuff!
Using this product has allowed me to continue to work outside (my favorite thing to do) without being bothered by poison ivy outbreaks. I just always make it a point to shower with your soap after being outside and it eliminates any problems.
I have the first run of this soap, when it was wrapped in a yellow wrapper. I think I may have originally bought it for mosquito bites. When used as directed, (wash once, then soap up again and leave to dry) it eliminates the itch PERMANENTLY!!! No after-bite or alcohol-based cures can do it!
This the only item that honestly cures my mosquito bites. In the summer, I'm miserable without it when bitten.
This product stops the itching, seeping and dries up poison ivy more quickly than any product I have ever used. For forty years I have battled poison ivy every summer. I keep a bar of this soap in the shower and by each sink for frequent use when I come in from the garden to prevent having an outbreak. It is a must if you suffer with poison ivy.
After pulling weeds in my yard, my underside forearms started itching. Not poison ivy. No rash, no blisters, just intense itching. I tried several products; peroxide, hydrocortisone cream, etc. Four days and no relief in site, itching getting worse, I got out my Poison Ivy Soap, washed with it. What a relief. The itching stopped and I got my first night's sleep in days. Doesn't smell bad, just not that good, but for the relief I got, I don't care how it smells.
I have tried many poison ivy products over the years, and this one is not only the most natural remedy I've used, but the most effective. It stings a little bit on the blisters, but it's worth it as you watch them start fading after one day of using this soap. I'm keeping this stocked in my pantry every summer! The only reasons I gave it a 4 instead of a 5 for overall rating were the stinging and the smell. It's a very herbal, earthy smell, which is fine with me, but I had a few people ask me what I had used, and that it was... different! :)
When my daughter was covered in poison ivy and broke out in new spots every day, Burt's Bees Poison Ivy Soap was the only thing that stopped it. We now keep a bar in the shower and several in the cabinet just in case.
He just looks at poison ivy and he gets it! I saw this product on in our local store, and as I use many BB products, I bought it immediatly. If he thinks he has been exposed to the plant...he washes with the soap ASAP. His outbreaks seem less irritable and less widespread.
I never got poison ivy until this past summer. Thank goodness Burts Bees has a natural product that works wonderfully! Granted it smells a little weird, but who cares if it takes away the itching & scratching!
I often garden without wearing gloves - and more often than not, run into poison ivy. If I head inside and wash my hands/finger nails/ring (inside/outside), arms - with Poison Ivy Soap within 20 minutes of my exposure (or, shower using the soap if I think I've touched multiple parts of my body), I usually get away with one or two small dots. I've also used the soap to wash the cat's leash, my shoelaces, and other items that I may have touched after my exposure. There have been times that I've delayed the washing, or haven't realized I've met with poison ivy, and I'm doomed to several weeks of intense misery (sometimes requiring a trip to the Dr.!). I stock up on the soap and keep it in the kitchen, as well as in each bathroom.
I am ultra-sensitive to poison ivy and have had many bad cases. Once you've already gotten a bad rash, this soap isn't going to make it disappear. Not even corticosteroids make it immediately disappear if it's severe. But I like to use it at the very first sign of an itch. If I even suspect I've been near the plant, I immediately go take a shower and scrub down with this soap. I don't have any hard evidence, but I really believe it helps a lot.
I have one suggestion for the makers. Since this is the type of product that is used only once in a while (rather than every day), it would be nice if it came packaged some way where it could be resealed. Once you get it wet you don't want to wrap it back up in the paper. But if you leave the soap out to dry, somebody is going to unknowingly use it for regular hand-washing and waste your precious poison ivy soap!
I've tried all the poison ivy products out there and this is the best. I give it as a gift to my friends who love to hike. And my friend's cat loves it like catnip.
Pros: Immediate results, Easy to use, Smells great
My husband cuts our grass and in the back yard, unfortunately, he has found poison ivy! EEKS! As soon as he comes in from the yard, immediately he takes a shower and I know to have the PI BUSTER in there or else I will hear him yell, "Where's it at?" When we start gettlng low on this soap, I know to buy some more! His birthday just past and guess what he got the PI BUSTER and he was delighted!!! He knows this soap works, because he gets covered in POISON IVY!
This product is a must have if you are allergic to poison ivy. It works best if you wash with it as soon as you come into contact with the poison ivy, but also works well to dry up the rash after exposure.
The smell isn't very pleasant, but once you feel the relief you'll grow to love the sweet smell of tar. :D
Pros: Immediate results, Easy to use, Smells great
I had tried MANY products for a terrible case of PI before trying this. It was the only thing that relieved the itch! Use it as it says...wash, rinse, then rewash and LEAVE IT ON. Relief. I love the fragrance...it smells like a campfire! That may not be for everyone, but I love it.
Pros: Immediate results, Easy to use, Smells great
We have lots of poison ivy in our wooded yard. When my husband has to go out to trim the underbrush, he gets exposed to it. He comes in and immediately takes a shower with Burt's Bees Poison Ivy Soap and it keeps him from getting a rash.
