This is my winter must give gift to friends, family, teachers and coworkers. It is great at healing those dry wintery hands without leaving a greasy film. The smell is somewhat medicinal but that does not bother me at all. It is really a great value.
Smelled a bit like kerosene, but it works! Gave a tin to my brother who is an outdoorsman. He really liked it's healing effects, but also noticed the aroma. He can't use it while he's hunting, but in the garden or fishing..it's a winner!
i got this for a Christmas present and i love it! i have dry hands most of the time and i use this and it works instantly,i would give it a 5 star rating but it smells strongly of rosemary
I got this hand salve in the Head to Toe Kit and i use it everyday! This is great for the winter months when your hands start to get dry and cracked. I use it in the morning and before i go to bed. I dont have the full size but when I run out I will definitley buy it!
Absolutely love this product! My husband and I exchange foot rubs using the hand salve (liberally covering hands and feet) It feels amazing and smells awesome too.
I don't remember how long ago I bought this, but I've had it for a while, and I use it on everything. In the winter, when my hands get really dry, I use this. When my feet are really dry and callus-y, I use this overnight and put socks on top and my feet are so much better! Just last night, I put it on my chest which was badly sunburned yesterday and today it doesn't hurt and the color has gone down. Thanks, Burt's Bees for an awesome product! You can bet I'll be buying more once I'm out. P.S. I like the fact that it's in aluminum. Plastic is bad.
I can't say enough about this product. I've used it for years for it's ability to heal cracks in fingers, hands, and feet. My medicine cabinet is never without it. But it's my most recent use of the product that has my jaw hitting the floor.
About a week ago, I burned the top of my hand when I was reaching into the oven to nudge two slices of pizza apart that I was reheating on a cookie sheet. Not my finest -- or smartest -- hour. The burn mark was about 1" long and 1/2" wide.
I initially put chilled aloe vera gel on it that I keep in the fridge to take the stinging away. Before I went to bed, I put an application of Burts Bees Hand Salve on the wound and by the next morning I noticed an improvement. So for the past five days, I've put an application on every morning and evening and now you can barely tell anything ever happened! It's faded the unsightly pink coloring of the healed burn and has evened my skin tone in the effected area!
I can't say it enough... This product is INCREDIBLE!
Loved the salve for hands then I got it on my new tattoo which happened to be on my hand....it worked better at keeping the area moist and healed better then the tattoo balm i was using before that I use it on all my new ink! :)
Pros: Not greasy, Smells great, multiple use, melts in your hands, the smell means its working
This is the best stuff in the world, I wash my hands constantly and their always soft due to the Hand salve really it saves hands. During the fall and winter I use it as my body moisturizer. Once in a while I'll pick up the hint of Rosemary or Eucalyptus smells I've learned to love because they remind me of the hand salve. FYI a little bit adds shine to your hair and in a patch you can use it as lip balm.
This is the only product that has ever worked for my horribly dry hands in the wintertime. My knuckles and tops of my hands get small cuts on them and actually bleed during the winter! This has been the only product I can use on my hands that does protects them and heals already existing cuts and cracks. I love this product and am so thankful Burt's Bees makes all natural products like this that are healing to the skin.
Since this has a strong odor (and a picture of a rough-looking fisherman guy on the tin), I expected this to be a heavy-duty, get your hands from callused to crazy-soft sort of salve. But after rubbing it on, my hands felt sort of dry again just a few minutes later. The smell is strong, but not necessarily bad, and it fades fairly quickly. I get super dry skin in the winter, and I thought this would be my "salvation." Not so. The Milk and Honey lotion works better than this.
The menthol-eucalyptus oil-whatever-it-is smell is too much. I love the product, just not the intense odor. One side benefit, it does clear the sinuses for a few minutes. Reminds me of the 50's when my mom would smear Vicks Vaporub on my chest.
Pros: Thick, Smells great, great packaging. i love the tin.
it is extremely oily.. but what can u exspect look at the ingredients. i layer it on wit another BB's lotion an itts pretty fantastc that way. i had this horrendously dry, almost callaused area on the top of my foot that is almost gone now. an i have used it just 3 times. i de def recomend this. it smells great
Cons: no more comfrey root extract, possible gmos in product
I just bought a new tin of hand salve and discovered not only does the tin look different, no doubt a money saving change, but also the ingredients have changed. No longer is there comfrey root extract (in my opinion the most beneficial ingredient). Added now are sunflower seed oil, soybean oil, and canola oil. My biggest concern is that soybeans and canola seeds are widely genetically modified now, thus I am fearful that these genetically modified organisms are finding their way into my body via the use of this product. I am saddened about this change - sure you can now say it's 100% natural but one has to wonder if genetically modified ingredients are really natural. Not sure I can recommend the hand salve anymore.
I got this as a gift set with alot of other BB products for Christmas and when I used it, I noticed my hands had a more shiny look to them around my knuckles. Which isn't a bad thing because my hands are as soft as ever too. I bring this with me everywhere.
My husband works on cars and has calloused/cracked hands. He uses this stuff every night before bed. The smell isn't flowery or girly, which he likes. And it's super thick and soothing. I use it on my feet. We love us some salve!
