Dry, crumbly, and white
February 22, 2012
Compared to honey & pomegranate balm, this balm with SPF is remarkably non-moisturizing and quickly dries on lips to a chalky, whitish residue. I've tried applying more and less, and never could find a happy medium. Also, within a short time period, the stick of balm became too dry to even apply to my lips without crumbling on the spot...I had to throw it away. I think I'll go back to applying skin lotions/creams with SPF to my lips under a coat of regular or pomegranate (LOVE!!) balm.

Too thick for my lips
February 1, 2012
I'm not a big fan of the consistency of this one. I find that it doesn't sink in to my skin very well so I don't benefit from moisturizing. It's okay and I will finish the stick that I bought but I have had better lip balms. I like ones that feel more like lotion. It also feels a little stickier than most balms because of its consistency.

Zinka for the lips!
January 28, 2012
Didn't know this stuff would turn my lips white. Didn't notice for quite some time. Immediately stopped using and threw it in the nightstand. It may come out again to be used only at night! It also didn't go on as smoothly as regular Burt's.

Wish I could get a refund...

Dislike! It's too thick for my taste and I hate the way it feels. Like the review title says, I wish I could get a refund! So disappointed in this product especially when I've liked almost everything else.

Love this!
July 12, 2011
I purchased this for vacation and was pleasantly surprised by the hint of passion fruit. I feel like my lips are well protected. It does tend to lighten your lips like a sunscreen might, but you can use it as a base and apply a tinted balm or lip stain over top.

Decent SPF Balm
June 25, 2011
This SPF balm has a smoother application than the ResQ balm. The smell is sweet, the protection is pretty good and lasts a decent amount of time, though SPF 8 is pretty low. It moisturizes fairly well but I usually put on Burt's Mango balm before I put this balm on, but in general this is a good product especially in summer.

White Residue, Hard to Apply
April 25, 2011
When I first started using this lip balm tube, it was almost impossible to apply. It just left chunks of white on my lips. I tried scraping off the top, which seemed to help a little. It took about a week, but the lip balm seems to be getting softer. It still leaves a white residue on my lips, but now it looks more like I have a light silver or frost pink lip color on. I'm not sure I'll buy this again; too much work if I have to wait an entire week for it to start working for me.

Not impressed
April 22, 2011
I bought this for the sun protection - it feels gritty and not smooth or soothing... also seems to put a coat of white on my lips - definitely not what i was looking for. I'm returning it to where purchased and will get somthing else instead. Not worth the money spent.

Disappointed
March 9, 2011
Cons: Hard to apply
This was the worst Burt's Bees product I have purchased. The stick was gritty and hard, and not did not glide easily on my lips. And as others have mentioned, it makes your lips look dull and pale.

I'm glad for Burt's Bees having sun protection in a lip balm. This one I use year round.

Great Protection... Not so great appereance
December 18, 2010
Pros: Easy to apply
Cons: color
LOVE LOVE LOVE how this lip balm protects you lips and keeps them moisturized! The only thing is that when you rub it on. It comes off white color. But very good protection!

Good Stuff
October 29, 2010
Pros: Easy to apply, Smells great
I've used this for months now and I have to say it works wonderfully for chapped, wind damaged lips. It glides on smoothly, smells fruity, and has a good application life.

Acceptable But Nothing to Write Home About
October 28, 2010
This lip balm does its job of moisturizing, but not as well as other products I use. I've def used worse lip balms before as well, so a 3-star rating seems right. Its one positive is its scent, which my husband really likes. Its big con, though, is that it makes your lips appear paler and dull.

Great buy
September 8, 2010
Pros: Easy to apply, Absorbed quickly, Smells great
I'm a lifeguard and this lip balm is the perfect alternative to the stark white effect you'd get from using 'Burt's Bees Lifeguards Choice' lip balm. It smells great and protects my lips while keeping them moist. It will turn your lips a little pink though, so keep that in mind

Not as great as I thought
July 8, 2010
Pros: Smells great
Cons: Hard to apply
For someone who loves the rest of the bb lip balms line & own all of them (except for the honey one since it has a weird odor to it).
I thought I would fall in love with this balm, although it smells good, when you apply it, it isn't smooth, and I felt like it was a bit grimy and rough.
When I applied it I had to put extra effort in applying & if I applied too much it left a white residue in which didn't help as much in me liking this lip balm, it also didnt leave my lips moisturized.
Although paired with the other BB balms under & this applied on the top it works well, though, I do not think I will be re-purchasing.
If you compare this to the lifeguards choice bb balm it doesnt leave your lips like you applied white lipstick. Though the sun protection for this balm compared to the lifeguard one isn't as much.

Saving Face!
May 7, 2010
I used this for the first time when visiting London, England last month. With unusually sunny weather for 10 days (thanks to the volcano?), this lip balm saved not only my lips but my face as well (as an emergency face sunscreen). The smell took some getting use to, but now I actually Like it. I didn't notice any White Effect. Being allergic to ALL chemical sunscreens, this is a god-send. I spend my summers on the water or in the garden and winters in the snow - this will never be out of my pocket!

Not impressed.
April 30, 2010
Cons: Hard to apply, white residue
At first glance, this lip balm looks pretty cool. Once I started to use it, however, I didn't enjoy the application or the white film it leaves on your lips. It makes my lips look white. I won't be repurchasing.
