Great for sensitive skin!
March 17, 2012
My son is 3 years old and has very sensitive skin. We have to use products with no dyes or perfumes, and we have to be careful about how we wash anything he comes in contact with. I have tried every other sunscreen and everything else made his skin break out in awful red blotches. I had been keeping him inside on hot sunny days, which is hard because we live in Florida. We purchased this because my sister in law recommended it and it is WONDERFUL! It is a little thick and tricky to apply, but I think it was very worth it to see my little boy enjoy a sunny day without any skin irritations. He didn't seem to notice it at all. This stuff works!

Not only for people...
March 23, 2012
I am a 6 year old Paint horse, named Cosmo...my pink nose and white face, especially around my eyes, burns in the Colorado sun. This is the only product that my owner can use to protect my sensitive skin that I don't have an allergic reaction to. And it stays on and protects me for several days. So you see, its not just for people....

Too chalky
November 20, 2011
I really wish I liked this product, since a chemical-free sunscreen is hard to find. But like the other reviewers wrote, the white-chalkiness makes it a no. I had some luck mixing it with regular body lotion, but that's not helping the SPF factor.

Worst sunscreen ever
August 17, 2011
I really cannot even believe how bad this sunscreen is. I prefer not to use chemical sunscreens, and that certainly limits what is available for me in terms of sun care, so I'm forced to try brands of sunscreen that I haven't in the past. I've been pleased by other Burt's Bees products (not sunscreens) in the past, so I decided to give this sunscreen a try. Big mistake. Difficult to spread on the body, weird smell, white caste on the skin, and the sunscreen also balls up on the skin once you manage to get it on. Not an attractive look. I can't even say how effective a sunscreen it was because everything else about it was so incredibly disappointing. Epic fail.

The search continues...
July 21, 2011
This product does not meet the level of quality I have come to expect from Burt's Bees. I purchased it because I wanted a high spf sunscreen that would be safe for myself and my baby. I really liked that it didn't have a strong smell and neither of us had any sort of reaction to it. However, it was very thick and sticky. I found it tended to dry on before I could get it adequately rubbed in, so it left us a little pasty looking. The worst part for me was the sticky feeling. I was constantly aware of it, every time anything brushed against my skin. All manner of dirt and grass stuck to us and it was uncomfortable to snuggle because we stuck together. I continue to use it on my little one because I don't have a better alternative yet and he doesn't seem to care, but I use something lighter and chemical laden on my own skin because I just can't stand the sticky. So I'm back to searching for a good safe sunscreen.

Great coverage for burned areas
July 12, 2011
I agree that this product does go on white and thick, just as any sunscreens with zinc or titanium dioxide in them. If you're burned or have sensitive skin, it's a must have to protect your skin. I highly recommend it for vacations at the beach or anytime you're getting many days of sun exposure.
maybe burts can add a natural tint to it?

Good, but....
July 12, 2011
I LOVE this product. Yes, if I don't rub it in REALLY well, it will leave white splotches and even if I do, my skin looks whiter, HOWEVER...it works! I have so many discolorations on my skin from years of sun exposure, I don't care if my skin is a bit white. The important thing is that it's not absorbing the sun's harmful rays.
I will continue to purchase this, but if you could find a way to get the white away, that would be great!

Finally!

Titanium & zinc oxide are the only sunscreens that do not break me out in hives. I love this stuff!

WORST SUNSCREEN EVER
July 11, 2011
DO NOT BUY!! I bought this and my friends and I used it at the beach today. Not only is it like trying to spread Elmer's glue all over yourself, but even though it's supposedly 30 spf and we reapplied it often we ALL got awful sunburns! I think we would have been better off without it at all. All it managed to do was paste the sand to our bodies. Horrible. We threw it out on the way off the beach. NEVER AGAIN. Really a shame because I really like some of their other products, but this experience has really put me off.

Disappointing
May 12, 2011
The first problem with this sunscreen is that it dries white. The tube says it's non-whitening, but that's a lie. It leaves a nasty white residue that's extremely noticeable, making it virtually unusable unless you don't mind looking like Casper. The second issue I had with this is that it made my face break out. I'm taking it back.

It leaves white spot after applying
April 27, 2011
Not recommended
After applying this product, I had white spot on my face and I could never apply it smoothly..
It is very thick and not moisturizing properly.
I like most of Burt's bees product but this is the one which make you feel embarrass after applying it.

This product is excellent for sensitive skin
April 18, 2011
After trying numerous sunscreens, this is the only one that did not cause my skin to become irritated. It is very effective, and I would strongly recommend it to anyone with sensitive skin.

Don't Buy It
April 1, 2011
Cons: Hard to apply
The cream was very thick, and it wouldn't smear properly. My body turned white after I applied this sunscreen. I think it protects your skin, but don't buy it unless you want to look awkwardly pale in certain spots. If this product could be applied smoother without creating white streaks across my body, I might purchase it again. But, for now, definitely no.
